Shah Rukh Khan Receives Enhanced Y+ Category Cover Amid Ongoing Threats

In a proactive measure to safeguard one of India’s most beloved actors, Shah Rukh Khan, the Maharashtra State Intelligence Department (SID) has elevated his security status to Y+ category. Recent “imminent and probable” threats necessitated this upgrade, as confirmed by police sources in Mumbai. While the nature of these threats remains undisclosed, this move underscores the state’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its prominent figures.

The decision to enhance Khan’s security came following a high-power committee meeting that critically assessed the threats posed to the actor. Under the Y+ category, Shah Rukh Khan will be provided with a dedicated team of 11 security personnel, comprising six commandos, four police personnel, and a traffic clearance vehicle. Notably, these personnel will be stationed at his iconic residence, Mannat.

This heightened security cover will be implemented on a payment basis and will remain in effect until the next high-level committee recommendation and review committee decision.

This isn’t the first time Shah Rukh Khan has faced security concerns. In 2010, his security was heightened following threats received after the release of his film “My Name is Khan.” The actor also faced controversy earlier this year over the song “Besharam Rang” from his movie “Pathaan,” which led to Paramhans Acharya, an Ayodhya-based seer, allegedly issuing death threats against him.

Moreover, Khan’s name emerged in connection with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai zonal head, Sameer Wankhede, and his revelations regarding WhatsApp chat conversations pertaining to the release of Khan’s son, Aryan Khan. Aryan had been arrested during an NCB raid on the Cordelia cruise ship in October 2021 but was granted bail after 25 days. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) later cleared Aryan of involvement in any drug-dealing racket.

Last year, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan also received an upgrade to Y+ security after alleged threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The decision to bolster Shah Rukh Khan’s security underscores the importance of ensuring the safety of public figures in India, particularly in the entertainment industry, where celebrities often face unique challenges and potential security risks. As the nation watches over its beloved actor, fans and well-wishers hope for his continued safety and success in his endeavors.
