Northeast Express Accident in Bihar Causes Chaos: 5 Trains Cancelled, Many Diverted

In a recent tragic turn of events, the Delhi-Kamakhya Northeast Express Accident in Bihar train derailed near Buxar, Bihar, leaving at least four passengers dead and injuring around 30 others. The incident has had a significant impact on the railway operations in the region, resulting in the cancellation of five trains and the diversion of several others. The affected trains included the Patna-Puri special, Sasaram-Ara passenger special, Ara-BBU special, Patna-DDU special, and Patna-BXR trains.

The railway authorities swiftly responded to the mishap, diverting numerous trains from Patna on the Howrah-Delhi mainline to manage the situation and ensure passenger safety. A bulletin released by the East Central Railway indicated that 12 trains were diverted in the down direction on the mainline, affecting the travel plans of passengers. The diverted trains included the Kota-Patna Express, Delhi-KYQ Express, CSMT-Asansol Express, Magadh Express, and LTT-DBRG Express, among others.

In the wake of the accident, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, took immediate action to assess the situation and extend support to those affected. He emphasized that key officials were present at the accident site to provide assistance. The disaster management officials, health department personnel, and other district authorities were actively engaged in providing all possible help to the victims.

Yadav stated, “It is our priority to ensure the safety of all passengers and extend all possible help to them. Helpline numbers have also been released to facilitate communication and assistance for passengers affected by this unfortunate incident.” He further added that disaster management officials were continuously monitoring the situation from the control room, ensuring a coordinated response to the crisis.

The accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety measures and disaster management in India’s extensive railway network. The railway authorities continue their efforts to restore normal operations and provide support to the passengers affected by the derailment.
