Confrontation in Noida: Dog Owner Sparks Heated Debate Over Elevator Etiquette

Noida, India – A recent incident in a housing society in Noida has ignited a heated debate on social media, shedding light on the importance of courtesy and empathy in shared spaces. The incident, captured on video, features a dog owner sparks engaged in a dispute with a security guard and a resident over the use of an elevator, all while a terrified child cried in fear.

The video, which was shared on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) by the account “Greater Noida West,” quickly gained traction. In the clip, a dog owner can be seen attempting to enter an elevator in a housing society with his leashed and muzzled canine companion. However, a vigilant security guard intervenes, citing the distress of a child who is visibly frightened by the presence of the dog.

The standoff escalated when the dog owner insisted that the child should vacate the elevator if they were scared. The resident, who had entered the scene, implored the dog owner to either wait for another elevator or take a separate one. Despite these appeals, the dog owner remained steadfast in his position, emphasizing that he was adhering to all rules and regulations and that his dog was properly muzzled.

The video, shared on September 25, has garnered over 8.5 lakh (850,000) views and continues to attract attention. Numerous individuals took to the comments section of the video to express their opinions and share their experiences.

One commenter recounted a similar incident, saying, “A similar incident happened when I was staying in a PG.”

Another commenter expressed concern about the lack of empathy, stating, “Humanity is dying every day; people are not ready to understand the situation of others. The kid was weeping, and he was still trying to enter the lift. Why can’t he wait until the lift returns back?”

Advocating for patience and flexibility, a third commenter remarked, “Dog parents should also demonstrate patience and flexibility, wherever possible.”

A fourth commenter shared a contrasting perspective, saying, “I live in Gaur City 2 and have never seen this kind of behavior from any dog lovers. All the dog lovers here are so humble, and I have seen them waiting long for the lift when nobody is using them.”

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of courtesy, understanding, and respecting the comfort and fears of fellow residents in shared spaces. It has sparked a broader discussion about elevator etiquette and the responsibilities of pet owners in public areas, resonating with a wide audience in Noida and beyond.
